Re: above poster: Grand Marnier and Cointreau are quite high-end orange liqueurs!. Triple Sec is generally garbage in comparison!. Indispensable for bars, triple sec has pretty much no business in a home selection unless you're planning on serving lots and lots of margaritas!.

For a good margarita, use Cointreau, good tequila, and fresh juices!. Grand Marnier might be good floated on top, but it's a waste of money to use it in the mix since its delicate flavors will be drowned out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hiya!.!. Triple-sec is an orange flavoured liqueur that adds sweetness, favouring and a LOT of alcohol to a drink (usually 60 proof)!.

The colour ranges from clear to golden depending on how much, if any, brandy is used while making it!.

Some of the brand names which are considered triple sec are: Cointreau, Grand Marnier and Combier - which was the original creator of the drink!. Hiram Walker makes a decent triple sec - and its affordable compared to the names previoiusly mentioned!.!.!.!. however most margarita purist opt for recipes containing Cointreau!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I use triple sec in a ton of different shots I make at home,
and I just buy the 4!.99 bottle works just fine if you making a margarita if you ask me no need to spend 25-30 dollars at least on a bottle of grand marnier or cointreau!.
mohawk, llords, dekuyper all make pretty cheap bottles of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is an orange based liqueur!. It is clear in colour and the main brands that make it are Bols and De Kruyper!. a good substitution if you cannot get it is Coinreau as its orange based too but I'd also try for Grand Marnier as thats more like Triple sec!. Hope thats helpsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yeah orange based stuff, not cheap though!. At about £12 a bottle nobody buys it other than to make a margarita!.

De Kuyper do it, but if you make the drink without it ( could use a little fresh orange) nobody will notice anyway!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tangerine liquor and you can get it at any place that sell distilled alcohol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
