Does alcohol (i.e beer) affect braces?!

Question: Does alcohol (i!.e beer) affect braces!?
Answers:
My answer would have to be!.!.!.It depends on what kind of alcohol you drink!.

Generally, I would treat drinking beer like drinking soda!. It has such a low alcohol content that it wouldn't do verry much!. However, beer is carbonated and also kind of acidic!. I would recomend drinking water after ever drink (which I always recomend anyway) and swish it around before you swallow!.

Hard Liquor on the other hand, that /COULD/ be a diferent story!. If you're drinking mixed drinks, treat as though you are drinking beer (most mixed drinks have an ABV [Alcohol By Volume] content somewhere between beer and wine [4-12%])!. However, if you are drinking in shots, then of course, water between, and make sure you take a calcium suppliment before and after!. There's not a whole lot you can do to prevent the 'glue' from being eaten away (take a plastic shot glass and leave a shot of vodka in it for half an hour to see what I mean) other than just making sure to rinse right away!.

All in all, its probably not going to hurt very much, just make sure that A!.) you don't brush your teeth right after, B!.) drink water and swish between drinks and C!.) As you should always when you drink, always in moderation!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i have braces also and i drink beer and fizzy stuff, my authodontis (cant spell it hehe) told me that you can drink anything like that but you CANNOT brush your teeth straight afterwards because when you drink fizzy stuff it softens your enamal so you have to wait for at least an hour to brush your teeth so it doesnt affect braces if you do that :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Soda affects them, so i assume that alcohol probably would too!. also, why do you have braces if you are just going to ruin your teeth with beer!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

no my friends hav braces and it doesnt affect demWww@FoodAQ@Com
