What spirits do I need to make good cocktails?!
I am having friends round and were having cocktails - what booze should I have in to make sure we can make as many different cocktails as possible!?(without spending a small fortune!)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Vodka, gin, bacardi!. These are your base spirits (What the drink will be built on) Then there are Baileys, Ice cream, Blue Curacao (Bols blue in shops) malibu, archers, kaluha, tequila(Blanc or gold) There is a lovely spirit called frangelico its nutty!. The brazilian sagatiba spirit is also delicious (cacacha spirit its called) a simple cocktail is blue aftershock and redbull!. for all those who have not tried it do so!. Its lush! The list can go on for ever but make you have enough soft drinks to finish off your creations!. Milk, coke, lemonade, juice of all varities like apple, orange, pineapple, mango and passionfruit juice etc are a must and also you need a vital ingredient in a cocktail!. Ice, both cubes and crushed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well, you'll obviously want the basic spirits; vodka, gin, rum (dark & white) and maybe whisky or tequila too!. Then you'll want some of the more cocktail orientated drinks, bottles such as creme de cassis/framboise/banan/menthe/fraise, kahlua, triple sec, cointreau and of course martini!.
Then you must think about the non-alcoholic aspects, the first of which is sugar syrup; this is VITAL for so many cocktails, you'll have a poor night without it but luckily you can make it yourself by putting 2/3 sugar in 1/3 water, heating until all the sugar is dissolved then letting it cool!. Other things you will need is plenty of lemons and limes and a lot of fruit juice (pressed is better than concentrate but if you're on a budget it's not too big a deal, or at least it won't be later in the night)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
