Answers:
Whisky is characterised as a spirit made from grains!. Scotch Single Malt must be made with 100% Barley, Bourbon must be 51% corn, rye must be 51% rye, but other than that you can use any grain you want!. Whisky also must be aged in oak, giving it that amber color, and must be at least 40% alcohol by volume!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, whisky is a production of of a mash of cereals (corn, wheat, barley, etc!.) which is fermented (just like beer) than distilled and aged in barrels most of the time oak!.
Whisky after distillation contains a minimum of 40% alcohol per volume or 80% proof (US) while beer contains and average of 5 % alcohol per volume!.
