Do different drinks really taste different out of different glasses?!
(ie using a champagne flute for champagne, brandy glass for brandy, port glass, etc)
do the shapes of the glasses really effect taste!? i know brandy glasses trap some of the aroma apparently, but just in general- why drink champagne out of a fluted glass, brandy out of a bulbed glass, etc!? is it scientific in reasoning (ie aroma and density and body, etc!.) just wondering, thanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

RED WINE GLASSES ARE BIGGER/ROUNDER THAN WHITE TO TRAP MORE AROMA
BIG ROUND THIN BRANDY GLASSES ARE DESIGNED SO THAT AS YOU HOLD THE GLASS YOUR HANDS WARM THE BRANDY INSIDE AND TO TRAP MORE AROMAWww@FoodAQ@Com

You have stemmed glasses to enable you to hold the glass without warming the drink up with your body heat!.
The bulbed glassed give you extra swirling space and stop you spilling your brandy all over your smoking jacket!.
The fluted glass is more ornamental, its elegant and allows you to see the bubbles fizzing as you drink it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Champagne in a wide glass, as used to be the fashion, loses it's bubbles!.
I think the brandy glass used to be called a snifter!. The shape of the glass holds the aroma!.
On a less 'scientific' note, I have some beer glasses with the name of an alcohol free beer on them!. I swear beer doesn't taste the same in one of these glasses!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Brandy and wine glasses are shaped to trap the aroma!. Champagne flutes are narrow to stop so much gas escaping and thus keeping more bubbles in (old champagne glasses were very wide and flat bottomed until somebody thought of that)!. The stem is to hold so that your hand doesn't warm the drink when you hold the glass!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
you use fluted champange glasses for looks!.
to see the bubbles!.
brandy glasses to increase the aroma of the "good " brandies!.
if you are drinking a chilled wine, a stemmed glass is best!.
your hand temperature won't
heat up the wine!.
all this said!.!.!.!.!.I have drunk some mightly fine spirits out of mason jars at parties !.!.!.!.and they went down GREATlWww@FoodAQ@Com
