They are two different grape varieties, they will taste different!.
What wine tastes like will depend onmany factors including wherethe grapes are grown but especially how the winemaker produced the wine!. Either can be made sweet or dry or anything in between!.
I found this review of the Muller Thurgau -- "It is light straw with a bouquet of wonderfully fruity and candy nose of fruit compote with sweet pineapple, apple and a touch of cream!.
The palate is tart, has nice acid dry with mineral and stone notes or flint mixed fruit and a touch of citrus with grapefruit finish!. Quite interesting at $12 needs careful scrutiny to appreciate!. Raise a glass!." - from The WIne Cask at http://winecask!.blogspot!.com/2008/01/dip!.!.!.
(Another answer talks about 'genetically engineered' -- this is nonsense, Muller Thurgau is a grape variety resulting from sexual reproduction between two other varieties , but then so is almost every variety that you can name!. Pinot Grigio is actually a mutation of Pinot Noir, but so what!?)
Best thing is to open pour and taste and enjoy new flavors!. Remember there was a time when you'd never tasted Pinot Grigio -- there's thousands of different grape varieties out there to experience and too little time!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Muller-Thurgau is actually a genetically engineered cross between Riesling and the table grape, Madeleine Royale!. It is extremely easy to grow and that may be the driving force behind it's commercial use!.
It will be sweeter than Pinot Grigio, but pobably not a life changing experience!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
