Which Mcallen scotch to buy?!
I asked a question a couple of days ago about Glenmorangie scotches as a gift for FI!. I found out two days ago that his favorite scotch is actually Mcallen!.
What scotch should I buy him as a gift!? I am looking for some of the more exclusive ones (I just bought him a 1977 vintage port for his birthday, but need something for our wedding gift)!.
Thanks in advance!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

At $250 you have Macallan's 21 Fine Oak and standard 21 year old just within range, as well as the 18 Year Old Fine Oak series!. All are supposed to be excellent!. I'd look more at the Sherry and Fine Oak line, just to get the finish flavors!.
Another option would be to buy a set of whiskies, the 10, 12 and 15 Fine Oak series, for example!. Then he'd have a chance to try them all!. Or buy him an Independent Bottling of Macallan!. Cadenhead and Murray McDavid have Macallan special editions!.
For unusual Macallans:
You could try and find a "Replica" edition, which are vattings of Macallans to produce a whisky that matched a bottle of classic Macallans!. I've seen the 1841 replica for 140 pounds, which is close to your budget!. There's also an 1851 "Inspiration" that would be roughly $220!.
Below is the best source I've found for a list of bottles!. You're probably going to have to special order it from a liquor shop, so have a few options at the ready!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know what you're price range is but The Macallan comes in about 30 varieties that vary a HUGE degree in price!.
Michael Jackson, the whisk(e)y critic not the pop star, rated The Macallan 12 Sherry Oak Series a 91 out of a possible 100!. That's a pretty damn good score and there wasn't another bottle that high within $50 of that version!.
So if you want the best bang for the buck I'd say go for that one!.
If the sky's the limit then know that a 1926 bottle sold at Christie's for $54,000 to become the most expensive whiskey in 2007!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I assume you mean "The Macallan" as the brand name of scotch whisky in question!. The answer to your question is not so simple!. Scotch preferences can be a very personal thing!. In addition The Macallan is a rather expensive brand with a wide price range from $50 to $50,000 a bottle!.
The Macallan has a series named "Fine and Rare" which are vintage bottlings from the 1930s to the 1970s!. In addition they have a Lalique series in which they sell you The Maccallan scotch in fine crystal decanters!. You can read up all about this from their Web page which I linked to below!.
As where to buy, if you are in the USA I would recommend trying Binny's, which is a liquor store in the Chicago, IL area but will ship anywhere (they even shipped some cheese to Iraq, seriously)!. This is because they have a "whiskey hotline" 1-888-817-5898 run by Brett Pontoni, who is Binny's spirits buyer!. He is a helpful guy who I am sure can point you toward something special that they sell!.
I know I haven't actually recommending anything yet!. So I'll just say that when I sat down for a Macallan tasting recently I really enjoyed their 25 Year Old Fine Oak bottling and their 30 Year Old Sherry Cask bottling!. That's just my opinion!. Full disclosure: I've never tasted their Fine and Rare or Lalique series, only the Fine Oaks and Sherry Casks, which are their standard bottlings!. That is to say I'm too poor to taste one of their really expensive bottlings :D!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
