Why do I get a headache within a minute of having a sip of red wine?!

Question: Why do I get a headache within a minute of having a sip of red wine!?
Answers:
I am unsure of why it occurs, but that happens to me too! I try to avoid wine altogether because it causes me to get massive migraines!. If I do drink wine, I drink a light, crisp white wine!.

My personal favorite is Reisling; it does not give me headaches as bad or as often!.

also, is it only red wine that triggers headaches!? Or do other things (food, environment, etc) trigger them too!? If so, I would suggest going to your doctor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Red wine contains a substantial amount histamines (naturally)!.
You're not alone with this malady!. If you really want to enjoy the wine take an antihistamine before drinking!.

Red wine gets its color from the grape skins, not chemicals - that's preposterous!.

Sulfites are present in all wines regardless of cost!. They are a natural by-product of fermentation!. Some wines have a tiny bit of added sulfites as a preservative!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wine has sulfites in it!. You could be "allergic" to them and thus the immediate headache!. also, in general, the "cheaper" the wine, the more sulfites!. So if you wanted to, you could try something a little more upscale and see if that helps!.
I wouldn't recommend taking an antihistamine before drinking!. Alcohol makes you sleepy enough!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

red wine has a chemical to give it the red color, It gives me headaches, I can drink white, red wine is always on a list of headache causesWww@FoodAQ@Com

Obviously red wine does not agree with you, try white or something else!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most likely it's cheap wine!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Red wine is known to trigger migraines, I don't know if it might have something to do with the tannin!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
