Why's everyone so big on alcohol?!
I don't understand why people who make $8!.00 dollars an hour like recent college grads like me would spend $5!.00 dollars on a drink that doesn't taste very good!. If I go out with my friends and I don't buy any alcohol they look at me weird and tell me to buy some!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

its a good question!. i make significantly more than 8 an hour but sometimes pay significantly more than 5 bucks for a drink !. It does strike me as not very logical, but at the same time i don't think we buy alcohol or drink it for its delicious flavor, thats why all drinks are mixed with different flavors to mask the alcohol, even shots are dressed up with lime or salt!.
The main reason poeple drink is for the effect!. It helps you relax and loosen up!. It erases your inhibitions and makes you feel more confident and comfortable!.
NOT DRINKING IS OKAY too! you don't have to if you don't want to!. You should try ordering a drink and holding it all night, or order a cup of water with ice and put a lime in it or an olive, people will think its a drink!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some people just like to drink because they like the taste of the beverages!. You clearly have a different palate than your friends!. Perhaps you just haven't found an alcoholic drink you like!. Perhaps there ISN'T an alcoholic drink you would like!.
Some people feel they need to be drunk or buzzed in order to have a good time!. I find this sad and an indication of a boring person!.
The easiest way around this socially is to be the designated driver!. Volunteer for this duty and your friends will see you as a bit of a martyr for the group!. You'll also be the one to remember what happened the night before!. This is useful if you feel like making things up!. People are willing to pay extra (vs!. bringing their favorite beverage home from the store to enjoy) at a bar, or social function, because it gives them a chance to interact on common ground, with an impartial party acting as "host"!.
Someone has to pay the rent of the place (+taxes+insurance+wages etc!.) so that gets paid by everyone there paying retail (outragous, compared to the market) prices for their consumables!.
In the end!. It's fun! People value things they find fun/entertaining!.
You have the benefit of use of space, service (someone cleaning up after you), entertainment, and social interaction with random people without having to open up your own home, and be responsible for anyone besides yourself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You know I can not understand this either!
People go out and pay silly prices for drinks and then to make matters worse they (some times) even put themselves at risk for getting in trouble for drunk driving on top of that!
I don't mind drinking but I do it at home!. I mean it is so much cheaper and you don't have to drive any place either!.
For $10 (or more!) some fool spent on 2 beers I can buy a 12 pack!

Alcohol has been produced and consumed by man for over 8000 years!. It is part of the healthy diet!. You should bo consuming it over a meal, at home, with friends and family!. This is much cheeper!. $5 drinks on an $8 wage means you need to change cities, or work on a masters degree!.

I think that because we all like to relax and enjoy ourselves, and alcohol does do that!. Especially after having a stressful week!. But people will pay want they want to for it, just like cigs!. They are way overpriced and yet people still have a need for nicotine, so they will still buy it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Most people your age want to meet men or women!. One of the best places to do this is at a bar!. If you are not drinking you kind of stand out!. I'm not telling you to get drunk and spend your entire paycheck, but loosen up and have a cheap beer!. You will have a good time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
