Good vodka?!

Question: Good vodka!?
A bartender once told me that a good vodka is one that is practically tasteless and odorless!. I am looking for good vodka recommendations!. Please suggest only those you have personally tried, thought were excellent and are not incredibly expensive!. I already have a large bottle of Grey Goose and I do not think it is that great!. Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You have already made the first step!. Realizing that Grey Goose is not all that great!. Those that say that Grey Goose is the best are basically admitting that they don't know THAT much about vodka and are thrying to impress people!. Marketing is an amazing thing, huh!?

Smirnoff is my "house" vodka!. 12!.99 a bottle and well chilled it is just fine!. Wall Street Journal named it the best value in vodkas about 2 years ago, and it consistently wins blind taste tests (both reports that I have read and personal experience with my bar patrons whom I try to sway away from Goose)!.

also great is:
Stolichnaya- Viscous mouth feel, clean tasting!.
Belvedere- also thick and a bit bready, very good
Chopin- one of the few potato vodkas out there, sticks to the tongue mildly warm finish
Ketel One- thin and crisp, makes a great martini, but MUST be cold
Tito's- From Texas and made with corn!. Not too pricey, a great value!.

On the very high end, "Hangar 1" is one of the best I've ever had!. Made in San Fran!. Stoli Gold is also very very nice!.

If you are mixing it with anything but soda or water, go with something cheap!. Really!. Smirnoff, Burnetts, even Gordons!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your best choice is the one with the word vodka on the label!.

In most countries, to be called vodka, by law it must contain 40% alcohol and must also be both "odorless and tasteless"!. Ads promoting "upscale" brands therefore target sexiness and being seen and being cool, never any palatable difference between vodkas which can't legally exist!.

Save your money and buy the one on sale!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Reyka!. It is from Iceland and is amazingly smooth!. I have already converted some of the most staunch fans of kettle one and grey goose!.
I like Chopin as well, but because of its style of roughness!. It is 100% potato from Poland and kind of has an eastern european bite!.
PS, Reyka is $26, great priece too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
