Cooking wine?!

Question: Cooking wine!?
if a recipe calls for "red wine," which types of common wines does this include!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Technically you can use any red wine!. I used to use burgandy at times, but now as a rule of thumb I don't cook with anything I wouldn't drink!. Merlot is a great go to wine for cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

!.!.!.but if you Do go with a "cooking wine" (hey, sometimes I do things I'm not proud of), keep in mind that they tend to salt those suckers, so it'll change the taste of the recipe!.

And yes, there is a big difference in red wines!. Some are gonna be sweeter than others, etc!. That's why, when I try out a new recipe, I figure I won't get something I'm really satisfied with till the 4th or 5th attempt!.!.

That's ok!. It's worth it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do not use a "cooking wine"!. Buy a red wine from the wine section of the store!.!.!.not the seasoning aisle!.

Use an average quality red wine such as Burgandy, merlot, !.!.!.!.any red wine you have open!. I try to avoid Zinfandel because it can be quite sweet!.

Just about anything: I always use the open one in my cooking, and if I don't have one open, I consider that a fine excuse!

If I'm buying wine to cook with, I just get the cheapest one!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use whatever you want as long as it is drinkable!. Most people can't even tell red from white in a blind taste test of straight wine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use only a wine that you would drink!. If it doesn't taste good in the glass, then it won't taste good concentrated in your recipeWww@FoodAQ@Com

You can uae any wine if is not worth drinking cook with itWww@FoodAQ@Com

Red wine is any redwine your want!.They are all sweet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
