Is martini supposed to be shaken or stirred?!

Question: Is martini supposed to be shaken or stirred!?
Answers:
NO NO NO! Stirred!. Shaken will make it cloudy!. Its just a bond thing!. He had to request it since every bar tender in his right mind would have stirred it otherwise!.
Mixed drinks get cloudy and/or foamy when you shake them!. If this is what you want, fine!. Otherwise, learn to stir!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am getting really sick of people simply reguritating rubbish about gin getting bruised, cloudy drink etc!. Not referring to anyone here, but the whole drinks community!.

These are ridiculous concepts!. Take a martini and shake it as hard as you can!. When you pour it out it will be cloudy as the air bubles become trapped HOWEVER within about 15 seconds it is magically clear again!.

So that concept is out the window!.

Bruising gin!? Ohh come on, I have never met anyone who said this who can back it up by being able to taste the difference!. Let alone most who have no idea what this even means!.

A martini that is shaken is technically called a Bradford!. So whats the difference then!?

A shaken martini will be colder!. Thats it!. The ice moves more vigourously back and forth and dilutes slightly more!.

The reasons to stir a martini are:

1!. If you dont want it really cold (which is rare)
2!. If the drinker is trying to impress everyone by reguritating something someone else told him / her about bruising!.

The reasons to shake a martini are:

1!. A colder martini is almost always nicer!.
2!. A colder martini is almost always nicer!.
3!. See point 1!.

Shake what your mama gave you and use the stirrer to pull the olives out of the jar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on whether it's a vodka martini or a gin martini!.

Traditionally, gin martinis should be stirred, never shaken!. Enthusiasts occaisionally complain that shaking "bruises" the gin and makes the drink less palatable!.

It's okay to serve vodka martinis either way!. James Bond always drinks vodka martinis -- which is why he orders them "shaken, not stirred"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Shaken mostly, but a few people like it stirred!. I don't know why, it's far more boozy tasting when stirred!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
