I have had mine for over 15 years!. I love it and use it quite a bit!. I haven't seen the commercials, so I don't know what they say, but I have made all kinds of drinks, soups, ice creams, etc!.!.!.
ETA: I just saw your edit!. Yes it does make everything smooth!. However, you have to realize it isn't a juicer!. You will get things much thicker than you would with that because it uses the whole fruit/vegetable!. Hope that makes sense!. There is a black thing that you use to push the ingredients down to the blade as well!. That helps to get a better more consistent mix!.
I don't know if you ever go to the county fair, but I have lived in three states, and Vita Mix always seems to be in the exhibition tent!. You might want to check one out there where they always have a demo and you can see and taste for yourself since it is expensive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No sorry Sis I do not have one!. It looks like it does a lot of stuff but it also looks like it costs a lot!. I have a blender that makes slushes and I have enjoyed it for $49!.99 not $450!.99!. Yikes you may be able to get a ice cream machine and a bread machine for a lot less then all that!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
