Question: Ok,so I got this idea for making homeade wine from a question on here from yesterday!.I need a little help!.!.!.!?
Ok,I have decided I want to expiriment and attempt to make some homeade wine!.!.!.I plan on making around a gallon of wine in a one-gallon milk jug!.I have yeast and sugar but I'm not sure what brand or color grape juice to buy!.I also need to know how much yeast and sugar I will need for each gallon of grape juice!.

Ok once I get all my ingredients into the jug and a balloon on top to collect the gas without letting in air how long will I have to let it set!?!?

I know it might not end up tasting very well but will it be drinkable!?!?What will the alcohol content be!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I usually use a house brand of juice!. The important thing is to be sure that it has no preservatives!. Instead of sugar, you might want to add a small can of frozen grape juice concentrate!.

Use whatever color juice you want!.

If you want wine that is at least worth drinking, use a real wine yeast, not bread yeast!. That could, in theory, get you to 9-12% alcohol, more with champagne yeast than with Montrachet, sherry or port yeast!. Practically, you might expect 7-9% (ballpark)!. Bread yeast will not give even that much and the taste will be off!.

Ferment until the balloon collapses!. Then wait a day or two and carefully siphon the wine off the lees!. You will lose a pint or so but your taste buds will appreciate it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use white grape juice, one or two packets of active dry bakers yeast!. No sugar!. Remember to sanitize your equipment!. The balloon thing sounds risky, and messy!.
The hard part is getting all the sediment and dead yeast out once it is done!. Try coffee filters or cheese cloth, very slowly!. Last time I did this is was a big mess!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Go to the liebary and look up home made wine and how to make it!. It ant hard to do but youve started wrong!.

It takes about 21 days of setting up untouched with a cloth over it while it works off!. Best to use fresh grapes and mash-em your self, no need to strain until its ready to pour up in a container!.

It should even tell how much of what you need to make how much you want!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
