Question: I want to buy a keg but i was wondering how long does it stay fresh after opening i will keep it as cold aspos
Answers:
We've had kegs on ice last for several days!. The air you pump into pressurize the beer will eventually skunk it, so the colder you can keep it the better!.

Put the keg in a half-height trash can, fill that with salt and ice and then fill the gaps with cold water!. Then wrap the whole thing in any kind of insulation you can work out!. The best bet is actual insulation that isn't the fiberglass kind!. You can pick up stuff at the hardware store that looks like puffy aluminum foil and will wrap around the can easily or some of the flexible blue foam insulation!. Whatever you use, wrap it all with towels and a blanket so only the top is open, then cover that with a heavy blanket if nobody is pouring!. Dump and change the ice after a day or so and it'll last you all weekend and then some!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are two different types of tapping equipment that are available for kegs, party pumps and gas taps!. Party pumps utilize outside air, which may introduce bacteria inside the keg, and will cause the beer to go "flat" or lose carbonation, reducing the quality of the beer!. Kegs operating a party pump should be used within 18–24 hours otherwise the beer may become unpalatable!. Gas pumps normally use CO2, but certain brewers require a mix of other gases (Guinness requires 25% CO2 and 75% nitrogen)!. Gas pumps can preserve a keg up to 120 days with proper refrigeration!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

After you tap it it will last all night and maybe stretch to the next morning!. If you put it in a big barrel with ice, it will stay cold longer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you keep it on ice constantly it will last a while!.!. put salt on the ice and it will stay cold even longer!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
