Is my husband an alcoholic?!
My husband drinks maybe once or twice a month, but he does it all alone upstairs while i am sleeping!.
He hides his 40 bottles and vodka bottles all over the house to hide it from me but i find them all the time!.
When he is drunk he gets enraged and wants to drive all the time (he is normally very quiet and polite)!.
When we go out, he doenst drink, he lets me and he drives!.
He only drinks alone and then hides it!. Its not often enough for him to go to treatment, so what do I do!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had a roommate who did the same thing!. I found out later that the drinking was much more prevalent than I had thought!. It came to a head when he started stealing to pay for getting drunk!.
Seriously, your hubby might need some help!. Check out some websites and do lots of research about how to best talk to him and how to best help him BEFORE you talk to him about it, otherwise the conversation won't go how you think it ought to, and he wil just say "I'm not a drunk, you're an idiot, etc etc etc!."

"Often those closest to an alcoholic find it hardest to see and admit that someone they care about can be an alcoholic!. Such a thing just can't be true, it seems!. In their eagerness to deny the depth of the problem, they may for a time believe the alcoholic's promises!. But the repeated breaking of these promises and the increasing difficulties finally force those living with the alcoholic to acknowledge the truth!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

The benchmark is if his drinking causes problems - which it obviously does!. If he feels the need to hide his drinking he could be drinking more often than you think!. He certainly should never, ever, drive when he's had a drink and it must be scary for you to put up with drunken rages!. You can get support from Al Anon who are there for anyone who lives with someone with a drink problem!. You could see your GP too, who may be able to help!.
Try and talk this through with your husband when you know he is sober (it's a waste of time if he has had a drink, believe me!) I hope you can work this through!. Remember lots of people do!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I doubt if he is!. Twice a month isn't much!. If he can go out and let you drink and him not, then he is not an alcoholic, or he wouldn't be able to resist!. Just because pp have a drink or two every now and then does not mean their an alcoholic!. However, he should not drive AT ALL after he drinks!. So just hide the keys if he is having drinks!. Maybe he just likes to have drinks by himself to unwind, just like some pp like to have time alone to unwind!. God bless!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Am I to understand he drinks 40 bottles of (beer) plus (vodka) in a setting once or twice a month!? My god!. I am Irish and love to drink!.!.!. I can 'put it away' !.!.!.!. that would kill me!. The other comment is correct!. You need to be educated on Alcoholism!. If that is the case, this is abnormal and he isn't happy when he watches you drink, abstaining himself!. Wow!.
How is this going to affect your marriage!? Why can't he talk about it!? and maybe if he were not 'hiding' he could drink normally!.!.!. is he ashamed!? My guess is , he has always known he had a problem and is ashamed of it , Loves you very much so hides it!. Seek qualified assistance!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
