There are several wines in the upper $20's range that I enjoy!.
Rosenblum is definitely one of the best value wine from California!. It is a winery that purchases grapes all over, and the quality has been very consistant over the years!. They make awesome Zinfandel and Syrah for under $30!. Their best wine, however, is Petit Syrah, $40, a bit out of your range but you should consider!.
I also love Ridge!. Ridge is also another winery that gets grapes all over, and they also have great Zinfandel!. Personal favorites are Lytton Spring, but other wineries, such as York Creek, are also very good!. Their price had increased over the year, many are in low $30's now!.
For Australian, which is nicely budgeted, I like Molly Dooker's The Boxer ($20) and Phillips Marquis' Cabernet-Shiraz ($15) and Cabernet ($15), both are pretty spicy and good value!.
Robert Mondavi has always been consistent in wine making!. The wines from the Napa winery - not the cheap Private Selection, but the ones with the pretty label and the name Napa!. Their Cabernet ($25) has always been very consistent and underrated, Merlot ($20) is OK!. Their Chardonnay ($15) is very cheap and fairly good!. Pinot Noir ($20) is respectable!. However, the one I relaly love is Fume Blanc ($15), which is wonderful - fruity, crisp, and just so good!.
Just in case you are interested, the other Sauvignon Blanc that I love is Conundrum ($22), which is a blend of 5 different grape!. Absolutely delicious and something I use to introduce many people to the art of wine tasting!.
Back to red!. I also like Benton Lane Pinot Noir ($25), Markham Cabernet or Merlot ($20), York Creek MXB ($28), and Heitz Port ($25-30, 2 different types)!.
