Being an ex tavern owner, the shot sizes in our area ranged between 3/4 to 1 oz, so we judged a fifth to be about 25 shots when figuring cost!.
Some of the high end night clubs were known to use larger glasses, but the price well reflected the extra liquor, so if you are questioning the average size, in the neighborhood bar, figure as above, about 25, more or less!. Very few neighborhood taverns will serve 1-1/2 oz shots!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A fifth is 1/5 gallon and equals 25!.6 ounces!. 750 milliliters equals 25!.35 ounces!. I think a shot is 1!.5 ounces, so a fifth has 17!.06667 shots, and 750 milliliters has 16!.9 shots!. Call it 17 shots for either, if one can measure them precisely!. A drink is a less precise unit than a shot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Offically a drink is one ounce (standard shot glass), but bar drinks are one and 1/2 ounces!. I don't know the ounces in a fifth off the top of my head, but that should help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
