Heineken is just another mass-produced, pale Euro lager!. UV rays from light are responsible for skunking beer when they break down the beer's hops!. The green bottles that Heineken comes in doesn't do much for blocking light from passing through!. Inevitably, most Heineken you come across is skunked (unless it's in a can, keg, or box of bottles)!.

Most good beer (American craft brews, as well as imported craft brews) will come in brown bottles, or even opaque ceramic bottles!. This prevents light from coming through and skunking the beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Beer is heady by it's definition!. Heineken just isn't for you!. Lots have serious bouquets and some are acquired tastes!. The dark European beers are like black strap molasses when imported sometimes and creamy and smooth when you taste them in their countries!. (Guiness Stout imported is NOTHING like it is in Ireland!.) Drink 2 of each beer you try!. If by the end of # 2 you have grown accustomed to the flavor, move on!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Skunky beer is usually the result of light!. Companies that produce good beers usually have the decency to use brown bottles for protection!. All I can say for green bottles is that they are not as bad as the clear bottles used for Corona!. While I do use some green bottles (Grolsch) for my homebrew, I am careful to protect them from light and heat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

maybe the beer is just old!.!.!.!.sometimes stores take beer out of fridge and let sit at room temp then they put back in fridge and that makes beer stale!. heineken is an aquired taste as well so it might be OK and your just not used to it!. buy a 6 pack next time - they prob sell quicker and would be fresher then the big one you boughtWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, Heineken is a good beer and shouldn't smell like that!. Bottles need to be kept refrigerated at all times, so it's possible that your bottle wasn't refrigerated - either at the store, or your houseWww@FoodAQ@Com

It is a premium beer, but that's just a marketing ploy!. It doesn't actually mean anything!.

Yes, that's what Heineken always tastes like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bring it back to the shop and ask to be reimbursed -

next time forget Heineken blabla - and buy skunkless beerWww@FoodAQ@Com

Some smell is from hops, its natural!. If it is very strong, then it was most likely stored improperly and is a bit off!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your tastes most likely should remain with "Bud Lite"!. You obviously don't like the taste of beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
