Scotch whiskey comes out of the stills completely clear in colour, like all spirits!. The best stuff gets its colour from the years it spends maturing in old Sherry casks!. (Spirits do not mature in bottle)!.
The darker Scotch is made darker by adding caramel to the product, this was originally done to make it look as if it had been in the barrels longer, but is now done because people think that's the way it ought to look!. Go for a pale coloured pure malt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
