First, it is wonderful of you to cook dinner and want to try and learn about wine/Champagne for your boyfriend!. I think he will appreciate your effort!.

Second, if you are a novice of wine, you really should start slow!. Too many nocie drinker ends up drinking something that is not appropriate and then end up hating wine!. So, if you are buying wine/champagne for both of you you need to think of yourself as well!. Please don't drink anything you might not like for force yourself!.

Having said that, I think wine and champagne are both OK!. Champagne is bubbly, can be quite dry and somewhat fruity, can be slightly sweet!. It is a fun drink to do before and after meal, but for your dinner, it may not be terribly complimentary!.

As for wine, for your purpose, you should try light white wine!. For novice drinker, I would suggest Sauvignon blanc, which is light, slightly fruity and sweet, and easy to drink!. It is not bitter (tannic) and not overpowering!. I would highly suggest Conundrum ($22), Chateau St!. Michelle ($14), or Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc ($15)!. Most people would actually suggest red wines, but my fear is that red wine would be too "strong" for you!. If you are interested in red, I would suggest Pinot Noir - but they can be a bit costly, since cheaper Pinot Noir would not be too great!. You can try Hartfort Court ($45-60), Penner Ashe ($50), Siduri ($50), Nickel and Nickel ($50)!. For your purpose, I would avoid Cabernet or Merlot and Syrah - too strong for you, even though your boyfriend probably will enjoy!.

My suggestion for you is to get a few bottles that are in reasonable range - a cheaper Champagne like Korbel ($15),Conundrum ($25), and if you can afford it, Pinot Noir - you can go as cheap as Benton Lane Pinot Noir ($30)!. That way, you got yourself covered!.

you can get GOOD cheap wine! you can get a red white or blush (oh yeah i am the wine lover lol) red can give headaches but only to some people!. but also red has the highest % try to get a 7% to 14% i like 2 on the sweet scale 3 is sweet like arbor mist and mostly the cheapest wine!.!. common for people who are just starting out drinking wine!. and 1 is dry on the sweet scale you have prob have had something dry tasting before if you like it get a 1 !.!.!. but 2 is right in the middle compared to both not sweet enough to give headaches but not dry enough to make you want a glass of water after!. if your not to sure what to get i would say try a 2 blush 9% or 12%

enjoy! PLUS depending on what your cooking!. ask a sales person what would go good with it!

on yeah silly me prices

a cheap normal bottle is about 10$ i would go for a 15$ to 25$

if your having steak maybe you should get a red! they have full body to taste with the meat! try something woodsy! lolWww@FoodAQ@Com

Wine!. Usually red with steak, but I prefer dry white!. Most people prefer sweet or medium though!. If there is no number on the bottle, ask the assistant!. Price around £4!.99 for a reasonable wine!. Namaqua or Banrock Station are nice ones!. Hope you are 18 if you are going to buy the wine yourself!.

Stick with tradition and have red wine with steak!. I'd go for a merlot so you can both enjoy it, i find that merlot is always a good starting point with red wine!. Price wise, dont get the cheapest one on the shelf, aim for mid range and look for one with medals on the label!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you have $40 to spend on moet chandon or Cristal a bit more for krug!.as they tell u have red wine with meat!.and with dessert campaign!.have it in the fridge all night!.the wine is served at room temperature!.make sure you have the wine opener cork thingy!.you too sweet doing this!have tons of fun!also remember to have adequate glasses!.if you do not know look for them in Internet so you have an idea which to use to serve what!.that is very important!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A glass of champagne would be lovely before dinner (usually you wouldn't want to drink it with dinner) - you can get a nice bottle of Prosecco for about 12-15 bucks - as for wine with dinner a nice shiraz or zinfandel would go lovely with steak!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Definitly!.!.!. Champaign!.!.!. awesome for parties :)
It is soft and sweet, desn't makes you sick :)

"White Martini, with two olives" :)
