Californian is more well know to people!. It is a classic that goes quite well with almost anything!. On the other hand, Australian wines are getting the reputation they deserve and are becoming increasingly more popular now!. You will find that Australian wine will have more character by the fact that the sweetness is more prominent that tartness; a matter of soil and sun!. Why not be adventurous and try Australian wine, which would be my pick!. also try Shiraz, or a combination of Cabernet and Shiraz which makes a great tasting too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The best Cabernets, in my opinion are from California and France!. They are produced in virtually every wine producing country in the world!.
The best I have ever had came from Italy!. It was produced by Carpineto, who make an excellant Chianti!. They market their Cabernet under the Franito label and sells for approx $30 in the US!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are both very well known and respected!. It really comes down to personal preference but i would consider California for the Cabernet and give Australia the nod when it comes to Shiraz!Www@FoodAQ@Com
