Is there something wrong with the red wine I'm drinking?!
It has *very* noticable lingering burnt woody aftertaste!. It does say "smoky berry flavours of the cabernet", but this seems excessive maybe!. It's First Cape Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It sounds fine to me!. Check what the percentages of the blend on the shiraz/cab!. Shiraz tend to be fairly spicy and bold, put together with the oak of the cab would make for a burning wood feel!. also sounds like its from South Africa and their reds tend to be a bit more on the tannin vibe over the fruit forward!. If you keep drinking and feel like you might like it, try an Australian Shiraz next!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
By the time you have downed the second glass, you won't even notice the aftertaste!. Enjoy a third glass to be certain the aftertaste has gone!. You may need to drink a fourth glass just to make sure the aftertaste has definitely disappeared, by which time you know you will be able to enjoy your fifth glass safe in the knowledge there will be no aftertaste!. Now, wine does tend to go off and develop a strange aftertaste after it has been opened, so it would make sense to finish the bottle while it is still fresh!. Cheers!Www@FoodAQ@Com
It's probably fine!. That's just how it tastes!.
It's possible that it's oxidized, but if the cork wasn't bled through then it's probably fine!.
If you think it's a bad bottle, buy another bottle and compare them!.
also, you can decant it and see if that helps to air it out a little bit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cabs vary from winery to winery!. There isn't anything "wrong" with it, it's just smokier than you were expecting!. Try a different name the next time you shop for a cab!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

shiraz cab would have a very distinguished 'smoky' taste, maybe your buds are just more snsitive to it tonight!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Personally, I'd say that there was everything right with it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
A lot depends on how much you have drunk, your taste buds could be out of sync!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
