Question: I want to make a Doppelbock with cali ale yeast instead of lager yeast!?
how will it effect the taste!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
You will end up with a Barleywine style of brew instead of a Dopplebock!.
The hop/malt balance will be rather on the sweet side for a Barleywine, however!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with both answers!. Maybe this is your hybid style!.
The ale yeast is used in beers that utlize a warmer ferment temperature and produce fruity aromas!. If you ferment this yeast at lager temperature you risk it not working!.

Doppelbocks and Barleywine styles are related in gravirty and IBU so using the ale yeats lends toward the BW style!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yessir! You would have a fruity dopplebock!. Tastes great, before it knocks you out!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
