Johnnie Walker labels?!
can someone go through the different labels in terms of blending and age please!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Johnnie Walker has three basic labels!. Red is aged 8 years, black is aged 12 years and blue is over 21 years!. All are blends!. Red is the lightest tasting, black is heavier but smoother and the blue, well that is for the odd real connoisseur!. I found it too heavy!. Here is an analogy!. Imagine a glass of chocolate milk!. That would be red label!. Add too much syrup and it becomes like back label!. Drink only the syrup and that is like blue label!.

All Johnny Walker scotches are blended!. When they blend, they can use good, single malt, bad single malt and grain neutral spirit (whiskey that has been distilled to the point of having little flavor characteristics - basically filler)!.
Red uses mostly bad single malt and grain neutral spirit
Black uses mostly bad single malt and grain neutral spirit and a little good single malt
Green uses 100% good single malt
Gold uses mostly great single malt, some good and some grain neutral spirit
Blue uses mostly great single malt and a little good single malt!. No bad or grain neutral spirit!.
With all that being said, I hate blended scotch!. For the same prices you can get some great single malt scotchs!. Try the Macallan or Balvenie for some awesome entry level scotches that start at about $35-$50!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
