Is it wrong to put white rum in margarita mix that already has.. ?!

Question: Is it wrong to put white rum in margarita mix that already has!.!. !?
tequila and triple sec in it!? its only 10% b/v and its supposed to be ready to go, but i thought i would give it a kick (surely a margarita is meant to be more than 10% alc vol!?) and i thought the rum would stay on the caribbean type theme!.!.
is this right or wrong!?
!.!. if its wrong how wrong is it!?
i dont have any tequila or triple sec to add to it!.!. even im not stupid enough to buy straight tequila!.!. just stupid enough to buy margarita mix ;) thanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The rum will probably help!. It doesn't really matter all that much, since the mixes don't really resemble the drinks they're supposed to be (though they aren't necessarily bad)!.

In the future though, you'd be better off passing on the mixes and just make your own from scratch:

2 ounces tequila
1 1/3 ounce Cointreau
2/3 ounce lime juiceWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would try it in just 1 drink to see how it tastes, before mixing the entire bottle of margarita mix and rum, and wasting all that good booze!

I went to a chain in Florida once, and they made a frozen drink that was margarita (tequila) and daiquiri (rum) swirled together!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it is probably not a great idea to do that it won't taste very good!.!. you could turn it into long island iced tea by adding rum, vodka and gin and cocacola!. or addd whatever you want until it tastes good and give it a new name call it something that goes with your theme add koolaid for flavor and call it something fun!. it is your party and your drink!.!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Dude there is nothing wrong in making drinks!.

look at the long island icetea there are 5 white spirit in there and 1 shot for each of them!

As long as you like the taste make new name then itr's all good!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would not add rum!. It would ruin the taste, even though those mixes are crap to begin with!. If you are going to add anything it should be tequila!. I suggest Patron!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!.!. Just add more Tequila!.!. Rum is Garbage!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you're over analyzing things!. It's like wine!. Practically none of us are conversant enough to taste "hints of plum, roses, a slightly sweet aftertaste--like orange"!.I have a very good friend who owns a high end wine store in my community!. He has taught me to let my taste be my guide!. Cost is not indicative of either quality or value!. Further, I have served Jack Daniels and Coke to people, who after two drinks, can't tell the difference between JD and Four Roses!. Try a little rum!.Explore!.Most drinks, really all mixed drinks, are the result of experience and exploration!. Drink responsibly and the enjoy the experience!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Stupidity doesn't have anything to do with it!.

Understanding the terminology does!.
10% alcohol by volume is not how much tequila or triple sec is in solution, but just the alcohol!.
The tequila at 80 proof is diluted with water at the distillery so that only 40% of what is in the bottle is alcohol!. the Triple sec is 48 proof so only 20% of the whole bottle is alcohol!.
When you take something that is 40% and something that is 20% and mix it in equal parts then the solution becomes 30%!.
Now it you add an equal part of lemon juice, sugar, and egg whites to that;(0% alcohol in solution) then the whole solution becomes 10% alcohol by volume!.
If you haven't drunk Margaritas before, the fact that the alcohol seems weak is a dangerous misconception!.
Margaritas are much more powerful that a hi-ball such as Jim Beam and Coke!.
which after being diluted is only about 5% alcohol by volume!.
Do it right the first time and go to a bar like Friday's where they really know how to make a good Margarita and drink one and wait 1 hour!. That is the time it takes your body to handle that amount of alcohol!.
See how buzzed you are!.
Not feeling it!? OK try another!. Wait an hour!. See how you feel!.
Now if you are a normal drinker you will probably stop at one, maybe two!.
If on the other hand, it turns out that you may be an alcoholic;
1 You probably will not be able to wait out the hour between margaritas,
2 You will not stop at two!.
3 You will forget how drunk you got today and probably drink again within the week!.
If that is the case, I have more info for you if you email me!.
PS Mixing rum in a margarita changes it to something I haven't tried yet, so if you like it give it a good name!.PPS If you make it from scratch as suggested above; use lemon juice!. Lime will block the other flavors and it will no longer be a margarita!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well wrong is a relative term!.!.!.How, what, and why is all up for all sorts of interpretations!. For instance, how wrong can it be to add rum to crappy booze mix!? What's wrong with adding more booze to!.!.!.anything!? Especially rum, the world's greatest liquor!. But I digress!.!.!.
1!. Margarita and carribean theme- That is wrong, margaritas are not carribean!.
2!. It's not wrong to buy tequila, as long as you will use it !.!.!.in a crappy booze mix for instance, since it seems you buy that type of stuff!.
3!. Since it does look as though you will continue to enjoy booze mixes, try a carribean punch mix at your local liquor store!. They should have it!.
You could also try making your own Carribean Punch mix, it's really easy!. Rum, of course!. Add some frozen carribean juice mix, like Dole's Fruit Juice mix in whatever flavor combo you desire!. You can find that in your frozen juice aisle!. Then go to your International aisle, and grab a fruit nectar of your liking, whatever flavor!. Mix in a large enough container to hold it all!. Chill really well, and enjoy!. Just remember not to do anything wrong and if you do, don't blame me!.!.!.!.
Good luck and happy drinking!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
