Okay, How do i go about setting up my own Alternative Rock bar in my stuffy old fashioned town?!
After seeing the answers from a question i posted i'd like to pick your brains people, on how to get a venture like this going going!.!.!.
I feel that the large proportion of the subculture scene is actually unaccounted for, and not reprosented by the pubs clubs or bars in the local area!.
Infact my town has 21 Hairdressers, One remaining traditional pub on the high street, a slug and lettuce, a Littentree, an O'Neills, a Sugarhut Villiage and a privatley owned wine bar!. It has many coffee shops including a Nero and a Starbucks and several Italian resuarants (Pizza Express, Zizzi, Prezzo, Cafe Uno, one French(ish)- Cafe Rouge!.!.!.)
My town used to have 16 traditional pubs on the high street (27 of them in 1901) including one biker rock pub which was closed (to become another trendy pub)!. yet it once had gigs for Pink Floyd, Led Zep, the sex pistols and many others in its heyday!.!.!.

You'll probably need a business loan to get started (unless you're wealthy) and to get that you'll have to write up a business plan!. You can find business plan templates at the ucf link below!.
Then once you get your business loan, you'll have to find a location, likely renovate it, make sure it's up to acceptable code!. get an entertainment license, a liquor license, hire staff, establish business relationships with suppliers of things like liquor, food if you plan to serve it (remember you'll have to deal with health inspectors if you serve food), promoters, booking agents, the local and regional media for publicity, hire in house sound people, probably get an in house sound system (you'll want to deal with a consultant for that), hire people to clean the place after hours!.
Depending on where you live, you may have to go before a community board to get permission to open such a venue, you'll have to learn about laws that will apply to your business like local sound ordinances, smoking laws, laws about serving minors, occupancy maximums on your building, in addition to the entertainment license, again depending on where you are, you may have to apply for another kind of license that allows people to dance in your place!.
Here in New York City, a cabaret license prohibits more than three people from dancing at the same time in the venues that hold those licenses!.!.!.weird but true!. Once you get your licenses, you'll have to keep up with them because you can't legally open for business if one of them expires by even one day!. (Well you can but don't get caught)!. You'll have to have insurance to cover you in case anyone gets injured in your venue be it audience member or performer!.
There's probably plenty I've left out, but this should be enough to help you mull your decision over!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You definitely need to contact a local attorney!. You'll need liquor licensing first !.!.!. and then need to be sure that your location is ok, per local zoning restrictions!. You're talking about quite a bit of up-front money here:) !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
