What makes a Cuban cigar so good?!

Question: What makes a Cuban cigar so good!?
It is just that its illegal or is the tabbacco just that great!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It's the tobacco!. But from what I hear the Dominican cigars are a bit better yet, and not illegal in the US!. Both of those countries have ideal growing conditions for tobacco, and make a lot of effort to make good cigars!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its just in people's minds that they are 'so much better' than cigars from other countries - the forbidden fruit syndrome!.

Cuban cigars are not better than cigars from the DR, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, etc - just different!.

And oh - since Mexico finally allowed the use of tobaccos from other countries to be used, they have gotten much better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The answer is subject to ones individual tastes!.
This link will in general guide you to the flavors/aroma of different countries tobacco, which is heavily dictated by the soil the tobacco is grown in!. You can take a Cuban seed and plant it in country "X" and achieve a different flavor/aroma!. Cuban soil dicatates a tobacco that is strong and full bodied, with spicy and aromatic flavors, now mix that with hard to get in the US - everyone thinks they are the best and have never tried one let alone probably ever seen one (even the including the people who think they bought a real Cuban - theres a good chance it was fake)!. One of my local shops keeps one of my favorite cigars, the Diamond Crown Maximus (maybe my most fave) out of sight in his storage humidor and does not display them!. Ive asked why he doesnt have them out and he pointed out that I wont see Davidoffs out on display either (but htey are in his storage humidor)!. He basically said that you could have the greatest cigar ever made on the shelf and someone/many is/are going to say it sucked!. well it sucked because its not the flavor your used to, or like!. He would rather have someone who knows thats what they want ask him for it, than deal with the wah, wah, wah I paid $25!.00 for that and hated it!. He says he constantly has to argue a personal choice of taste to an afficanado rating and for the flavors of a (real)Cuban they are genrally rated high!. He then pointed out the opposite side of the coin!. A cheap low rate/no rate cigar that people flock to because it tastes like berries in the corner stores 90% humidity level humidor!. Again its personal taste!

Are you assuming a Cuban is "so good" !?, or do you know for a fact!?

Has anyone ever read the warnings on some of the Gurkha sticks: Warning: Do not smoke if you are inexperienced or cannot handle full flavored heavy cigar!. Hmmmm wonder is someone who didnt like full flavor would say it sucked, or if someone who did would say it was the greatest, or it is "so good"

Sorry i know the answer goes beyond your question!
