Answers:
I know you're cross, but imagine that your 12 year old daughter had gone in there with someone older and got them to buy alcohol for her!.!.!.!. how p*ssed off with Tesco would you be then!?

I'm a teacher and I get so angry that I'm not supposed to touch the children, that we can't take out splinters or put on suncream, etc!. The whole world has gone mad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That is ridiculous, unless they had reason to suspect that you were buying it for her - eg if they saw her give you money before you got to the till, or she said something like "I'll take this to the party later" or something along those lines!. It sounds ridiculous, I know, but both the store and the individual cashier can be prosecuted and fined if they knowingly serve alcohol that will be consumed by a minor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its a shame the local corner shops arent as vigilant as this!. It is a sign of the times and we should get used to it, and be thankful that at least SOMEONE is taking an interest in keeping our children out of trouble!

Although it is ridiculous that she refused to serve you, if your daughter had been 16 or 17 it would be understandable!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know your country's laws, but in Texas the seller must obtain ID from everyone in the purchasing party!. And, if the cashier is caught by the alcoholic beverage commission, the employee gets a $3,000 fine (which the store will not pay for you) and the store gets a $2,000 fine!. Perhaps it is best if you left your daughter at home when you go to purchase alcohol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ive never had a problem!. You sure that was the reason you were (nearly) refused, I suspect theres more to it!.!.!.perhaps they didnt think YOU were old enough (as leon has said already)!.

Its all very well for everybody to get all indignant and on their soap boxes but as a retailer they have the RIGHT to REFUSE (and strictly speaking they dont have to give you a reason)!. you get refused!.!.tough, get over it!. Its all to easy to winge and moan when we dont get our way isnt it!? and you seem to indicate you were almost refused which implies you werent!.!.!.what you moaning about!.!.!.you got your beer!. I hope you'll be as quick to praise them if they refuse an underage person (and that underage person doesnt get pissed on cheap beer and doesnt put a brick through your car window or doesnt stick a knife into your husband etc)!.!.!.!.perhaps not though eh!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wonder if they would do the same because I had my 4 year old with me!

I once went to a Co-op store and refused to serve me RED BULL (of all things) because I didnt have any ID - Im 24 btw! They said I needed to prove I was over 16!. The manager was no good either, admitted I looked over 16 but still couldnt serve me!. I now refuse to buy anything from any co op store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is down to poor staff training!. also some people like to throw their weight about!.
The funniest thing that ever happened to me [In England] was when I [then 28] and a female colleague [then 26] took a junior staff member for a meal because we were working away from home & it was his 21st birthday!.
The waiter came over and said "excuse me, Sir & Madam, is your son old enough to drink wine!." If looks could have killed he would have died right then!. My colleague was still muttering about it days later!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tesco's policy is that they don't know that's your daughter & you could be buying the larger for her!. I agree there going over the top my mate got refused wine in a Tesco Express he was ok to pay for his petrol but NOT have the wine coz he didnt have his driving licence on him!. How screwed up is that!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Same thing happened to me in asda, i showed my driving license and they refused to serve me because the person with me had no ID (she was 27!!!) Wrote letters of complaint to the store and to HQ but to no avail

My friend then went and bought cigarettes from the same store and was not asked for ID!Www@FoodAQ@Com

aw they done that the other week to me in tescos because i touched the bottle my boyfriend was buying !. i really kicked off!. so the other day i went in with my boyfriend mother and his little brother, i asked his little brother to pick out a bottle of malibu and walk around store and put in trolley!. we got the check out and they didn't say **** all about him picking it up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Talk about being over cautious! I know you must be angry but spare a thought for me - I'll be 30 this year and I STILL get asked to provide ID when I try to buy alcohol!. It doesn't bother me - I LOVE seeing the look on the cashier's face when I show them my passport; they're always soooo embarrassed!Www@FoodAQ@Com

well= i think you are fibbing , having 1 -12 year old daughter or 12- children of various ages and genders with you would make no difference if you had with you ID to prove your own age you are likely too young to purchase alcoholWww@FoodAQ@Com

not as bad as canada
there you hav to show id however old you look
my parents went in to a posh resturaunt there,
no kids alowed and were refused as my mum
(42 yrs old) had no idWww@FoodAQ@Com

Tesco aren't stupid!. The checkout person got it wrong!. Sh*t happens!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because they employ morons!.!.!.!.they refused to sell me a box of cooking matches the other day because I had no ID to prove how old I was (I am 26!)Www@FoodAQ@Com

So why didn't you go over to customers service to complain!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because They Only sell it to under aged people , hence the cheap prices of vodka and beerWww@FoodAQ@Com

Lol! this is actually so ridiculous its funny!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

That is outrageous! not to mention ridiculous!. Did you complain!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

that

is

pathetic

i hope you complain
