I prefer a light white wine to counter the more oily salmon and tuna!. It might also be nice to cut the sweetness of the eel sauce!. I usually don't do chardonnay as it tends to be oakey and heavy for a white!. For myself I prefer a sauvignon blanc, a light reisling, or a chenin blanc!. A nice dry rose might also be really nice!. I think the only time I'd ever consider a red with sushi is if it was beef sushi, ahi sashimi, or something fried, red is just too strong!. Plum wine tends to be too sweet for me, it sticks to my palate too much!. Sake would be an excellent choice, but unless you know the selection well and have one in mind, it could be daunting!. Good luck and have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The fact is, an enormous number of us prefer wine; and while it doesn't seem quite so natural, with a little bit of thought you can pick some wines that are perfectly delicious with sushi and sashimi!. There is, for instance, a wine that is cold, light and bubbly like beer, and crisp, yeasty and sometimes sweet-edged like sake: Extra Dry or Brut Champagne!. Whether French, Californian, Spanish or otherwise, an off-dry, steely crisp sparkling wine does a great job of freshening the palate between bites of hamachi, maguro (tuna), or even tamago (egg) sushi!. You can't go wrong!. In fact, it seems almost decadent to be drinking a $100 bottle of creamy, delicate Perrier-Jouet "Fleur de
Champagne" with rice!. But what a way to go!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Saki or a light acidic white would go best with Sushi!. Your server can suggest one that would go good with what you order!. Something heavy that sticks to your palate can over power the fish, and something too sweet would change the taste too much (some Sakis are actually too sweet for Sushi)!. Japanese beer is awesome with Sushi! We always have Asahi with Sushi! It's wonderful! Light and refreshing and will not clash with Sushi or any of the accouterments like ginger or wasabi!. Kirin and Sapporo are also good, but Asahi is my favorite!. YUMMO!!! Great, now I am craving Sushi again! And beer!.!.!. DAMMIT!!! LOLWww@FoodAQ@Com

I usually go with a dry white like a Riesling, the dryness of the wine will help mask any "texture" issues you may have with eel and the sweetness of riesling will help cover any fishiness of the salmon and tuna!.

have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

someone already replied you: chardonay!

any good white wine good be great;

or else, stick with the old fashion: sake

(chilled or warm)

but remember now: "do not drive home until you are really drunk"
