Are so called ‘light’ beers and ciders really lower in calories?!

Question: Are so called ‘light’ beers and ciders really lower in calories!?
Answers:
Lets find out!.
I'll do Calories, Carbs, and ABV, then I'll add up beers alcohol (36oz * ABV)

3 Coors (4!.9%) vs 3 Coors Light (4!.15%)
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
Calr 447 vs 312
Carb 36!.6 vs 15!.9
ozA 1!.77 vs 1!.49

So for Coors, you're saving 135 calories and half the carbs!. You'd have to drink half of a fourth Coors Light to get the extra alcohol!. Since you can't drink half a can at a bar:

3 Coors (4!.9%) vs 4 Coors Light (4!.15%)
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
Calr 447 vs 416
Carb 36!.6 vs 21!.2
ozA 1!.77 vs 1!.99

So on to Miller MGD/HL vs Miller Lite
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
I don't have to calculate Miller!. Miller lite has the same ABV as Miller (4!.2%) and has fewer calories (143 vs 96) and carbs (13 vs 3)!.

3 Bud vs 3 Bud Light
-------------------------
Calr: 435 vs 330
Carb: 31!.8 vs 19!.8
ozA: 1!.8 vs 1!.52

Again, you'd need slightly more than 6oz of Bud Light to reach the same alcohol content!. So!.

3 Bud vs 4 Bud Light
-------------------------
Calr: 435 vs 440
Carb: 31!.8 vs 26!.4
ozA: 1!.8 vs 2!.03

Not if you're drinking Miller Light!. Of course, Miller and ML have the same alcohol as Bud Light, so you'd have to drink more of that to get the same alcohol!.

-otherwise-

You'll always save carbs with light beers, but in order to reach the same level of alcohol with some you'll need to drink more and the calories -can- catch up!. Technically, for every 6 regular beers you'll need 7 light beers, but unless you're a drinker at that level, it's going to be one more beer than the normal stuff!. You could always get your alcohol from something else: vodka is low in calories!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not really, it has more to do with marketing than anything!. The calorie content of an alcoholic beverage is directly correlated to it's ABV (give or take a little) so a light beer is really just a weak beer!. Yes it is lower in calories but at the same time if your intention is to get buzzed/drunk then you're still looking at consuming the same amount of calories if not more when you take in to consideration how fast your body processes alcohol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. It is true that some light beers are watered down, but others are simply made with the same amount of water and a modified amount of hops or grain!. Some beer companies use higher qulity ingredients in lower amounts so they result in more flavor in a lower calorie light beer!. This is most true of Sam Adams, which unlike every other light beer I have tried is actually enjoyable and satisfying!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well yes, but you typically need to drink more to get the same effect, so in the long run!.!.!.no!. Lets say bud has 50 cal and bud light has 30 cal you need 2 buds to get drunk at 50 each which is 100 cal but you need 4 bud lights which is 120 cal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, but because they've been watered down!. You could achieve the same affect by diluting your own beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no, they're just easier to carry home because they're lighter, haha,
thats not even funny is it, sorry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are, but they are also lower in alcohol levels as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes it sure is!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
