My hubby is the home brew guru (for beer), he's done it for 20years+ No you can't make spirits with the same techniques as home brew, you need to distill spirits, but be aware, distilling spirits is illegal in most places, so check it out with your local authorities before you go ahead!. It can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing with spirits, they have been known to explode, so research carefully!. There are a few things like Baileys etc that can be made very easily without a still, these recipies are available from your local home brew retailer!. They would be you best start for advice and what is leagal/or not to make from home!. My hubby only does beer, but he has friends who have tried other drinks (mostly unsuccessful) it takes time and patience!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
