especially as young people now just want to drink lager and vodkaWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It's a growing trend here in the states (much to my delight), I imagine its fate it directly correlated with that of the craft beer movement in general which is just as much a mystery to me as anybody else!. The craft beer segment has been steadily growing over the past several years but who knows where the crappy economy is going to steer it over the next few!. It seems that in the case of the UK though that quality brewing traditions are falling to the wayside in light of trendy and terrible American beers such as Budweiser!.

CAMRA is an organization seeking to maintain the tradition of real ale though, perhaps their website would have some more compelling data!.!.!.

99% of the beer drinking populace couldn't tell if they were drinking an ale or a lager if asked!. My concern isn't that lager controls the market!.!.!.it has for a hundred years!. Ever since Adulfus Busch figured out how to ship beer refrigerated!.

My concern is the growing monopolies in the industry!. SAB owns Miller and Coors InBev will own shortly own Budwieser (who owns 50% of Grupo Modelo) besides the countless others they already own!. SABMiller, InBev and Heineken control 93% of the world beer market!. 93%!

SABMiller is notororious for muscling distributors and stores into reducing shelf space for smaller compitition!. What happens when the big three deside to wage all out war on the craft industry!? The last bastion of real ale!. The craft industy fought long and hard to get that 7%!.!.!.it wasn't easy!. I cringe to think that it could slip back into the 3% ange!. I remember those days!. They weren't fun for beer lovers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The micro/craft breweries are getting bigger than ever!. There increasing market share proves it!. So much so the big boys have tried to market there versions of "craft style" brew!.
While I would agree with the Mayor, most people have no clue between an ale and a lager, I believe the beer advocates/snubs/geeks etc will keep increasing in number!. As long as there is home brewing, real ale will never die!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Considering the whole mirco brew industry is mainly made up of ails, and I keep seeing new ones in the fridges all the time, I would think it is pretty good!. As kids grow up so do their tastes and they will (some anyway) get away from that sickly sweet shite!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Can only get better!.I wish we had a real ale pub in the town i live in,You would have to drag me out of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
