Question for Bartenders: How much do you usually make in a week? Is it good money for the most part?!
I am thinking of going to bartending school!. There is a great one right by where I live and I am going to go for it!. I hear that you can make really good money!. I want to hear from other bartenders!. also what are the pros and cons of your job!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly, you don't have to go to school to be a bartender!. I never planed on being one!. I was a waitress and they needed a bartender one day cuz someone called out!. From that day on, I just studied the drinks and now 6 years later, I am still doing it!. I would start out in a laid back restaraunt like a Chili's or Applebees, or something along that line and let them know that you are intersted in bartending!.!.!.!.you may have to wait tables for a while before but it's a lot cheaper than bartending school!. And with the restaraunts and sports bars, you mainly get your long islands, maragaritas and simple stuff, and hey, if you don't know how to make something, just ask!.!.!.!.!.people don't mind giving you advice if you aren't sure what goes in it!. The money part, is great! You walk home with cash every night and if you are good at what you do, you will build up a group of "regulars" that come in just to see you and have you make their drinks!. Started working bar about 17yrs old!. The idea of the indusrtryis to learn everything!. Wine, spirits, liquor, beer, coffee and food!. A good bartender has knowlage about the product, the person and the personality to want to be around!. As a venue manager i look for people with passion and knowlege!. This will earn you the big bucks anywhere in the world wether it be in a small bar or the Hilton Hotel!. Average wage in in Aust!. is 18p/h gross (15!.50ish net!.) + tips!. When you specialize in a specific area it can jump up alot more!. eg!. Wine experts in a good wine bar, mixoligists, baristas, bar flair!. The best is management!. Big bucks in this!.
