When you drink, you lose your inhibitions!. He might want to fight when he's sober, but he holds it in!. Sober, he's rational, drunk he's belligerent!.

Alcohol numbs our consciousness, so whatever is lurking underneath comes out, especially in a blackout!. Either what comes out is our true self, or the opposite, and is not who we really are at all!.
