Beer is an alcoholic beverage produced by brewing and the fermentation of starches derived from cereals!. The most common cereal for beer brewing is malted barley although wheat, corn, and rice are also widely used usually in conjunction with barley!. Most beer is flavoured with hops, which add bitterness and act as a natural preservative!. Occasionally, other ingredients such as herbs or fruit may also be included in the brewing process!. Alcoholic beverages fermented from non-starch sources such as grape juice (wine) or honey (mead) are not classified as beer!.

It is the world's oldest[1] and most consumed[2] alcoholic beverage and the most popular drink overall after water and tea!.[3] Some of the earliest known writings refer to the production and distribution of beer: the Code of Hammurabi included laws regulating beer and beer parlors[4], and "The Hymn to Ninkasi", a prayer to the Mesopotamian Goddess of Beer, served as both a prayer and as a method of remembering the recipe for beer in a culture with few literate people

Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermentation of grape juice!.[1] The natural chemical balance of grapes is such that they can ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes or other nutrients!.[2] Wine is produced by fermenting crushed grapes using various types of yeast which consume the sugars found in the grapes and convert them into alcohol!. Various varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts are used depending on the types of wine produced!.[3]Www@FoodAQ@Com

Beer usually has less alcohol than wine, because there's less sugar to ferment into alcohol, but both have it!. Wine is made from grapes or other fruits and the juice is fermented directly, no water added!. CO2 is never added to wine, although sparkling wine (champagne, etc) ferments partially in the bottle so it naturally has CO2 in it!.

Beer is made from grain, and since grain doesn't have alot of water in it, it is usually malted (convert starchy grains into sugar) in cold water and then yeast is added to ferment!. We call the process of adding water "Brewing"!.

Beer is normally carbonated artificially, either when it's put into the bottle, can, or keg, or when it's being dispensed from the tap!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
