To be honest, don't know for sure!. But of all the different types of alcohol out there, wine is the only "natural" one out there!. Beer is brewed, spirits is distilled, but toss some yeast on a bunch of grapes and it could in theory ferment and give you wine!. That say, I'm guessing that the tannins in red wine is going to affect you different!. So, as a non-certified wine nerd, my best guess is the tannins, along with wine being fermented!. Yeast eats the sugars, poops out the alcohol, its gotta give you a different buzz, along with the tannins!. As for white wine, its never affected me as much as red, how about you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have several ideas!. Number one could be the speed at which you drink, plus the amount of alcohol in the particular beverage, or it could all be in your head!.
Alcohol is alcohol!. No matter what flavor it hides behind it's still alcohol!. If you drink a shot of 40 proof rum in 30 seconds it's going to hit harder than the 11-15% wine you drank in an hour!. ABV means nothing!. A small bit of Eiswein will go down faster than a bitter Merlot!.
Personally I see no poetry in wine!. Wine is crushed grapes left to ferment!. :) If left to itself a pile of grapes will crush themselves and ferment!. What's personal about that!? Beer on the other hand has a much larger attachment to the soul of it's creator!. What grains will I use!? What hops go well with the grains!? Then what yeast do I add!? It's unfortunate that many people are given the impression that beer is the underachiever of alcohol!. Thanks to mass market, wagon pulling, frog speaking macrobrews people are left with the idea beer is simple when actually it is so much more!
:) Sorry I tend to drone on about beer!. To address your question I believe it's the speed of your drinking, added to the amount, and mood!.

edit: And to believe "wine is the only natural one out there" is rubbish!. :) What is beer but grains, hops, water, and yeast!? How natural is that!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think that because wine is overall a more "romantic" beverage, people get into a different state of mind when they drink it, causing a different buzz!.

That and wine contains tannins which affect blood-flow and can cause different reactions than regular alcohols!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have noticed it to ,its like wine speaks to your heart, like wine has its own poetry especially red wine!.There is nothing like having a glass of red wine with a loved one on a winters night just talking the time away!.Wine is special in the way how its cultivated to have a soul of its own!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because its made from fermented grapes and the alcohol by volume is different!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
