Brewing butterbeer, help me with odd ingredients?!
OK so I decided I would like to make a real butterbeer, as close as I can possibly do to how it appears in the Harry Potter series!. So I am going to brew it as a mead when my current blueberry is done, or when I get another carboy or something!.
The problem lies in the ingredients in butterscotch, which is what butterbeer is supposed to taste like!. Butterscotch flavor is created with sugar syrup, butter, cream, and vanilla!.
Now when it comes to brewing, I have no idea how I would incorporate these flavors, some help please!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since most of the ingredients in true butterscotch will spoil, your best bet is probably using some kind of artificially flavored butterscotch syrup!. The sugars in it will still ferment, but the flavor should remain!. Just mix it in with the honey when you boil!. To be honest, I have no idea what that will taste like (could be either really good, or terrible), but it's probably the only way you'll be able to make something butterscotch flavored!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Here's a recipe for you that is really simple to follow and as far as butterscotch use the same butterscotch as you would use to put over ice cream it tastes the same less work
BUTTER BEER
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup butterscotch topping
2 tablespoons whipped butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups vanilla cream soda
Combine condensed milk, butterscotch topping, and butter in a glass heatproof measuring cup!. Heat in microwave for 1 minute!. Remove and stir until butter has melted and incorporated into mixture!. Meanwhile heat cream soda in another heatproof measuring cup for 1 minute 30 seconds!.
Divide butterscotch mixture between 2 (10 to 12-ounce) mugs!. Fill mugs with heated cream soda and stir thoroughly!. Serve garnished with an old-fashioned butterscotch candy stick!.

This morning on Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee she made a butterbeer for her nephew!. She heated up 2 cups of creme soda for 1 1/2 minutes in the microwave!. Then she heated 2 TBSP of Sweetened Condensed Milk with 1 TBSP of butterscotch syrup (the kind you would use to top an ice cream Sunday) for 1 minute in the microwave!. Then she mixed the 2 together!. I have to say it looked really yummy!.
Perhaps you could use butterscotch syrup or butterscotch ice cream topping for you butterbeer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You could use an artificial butterscotch flavor instead!. I don't think the butter cream would last long enough before it went bad!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
