Well, depending on where you live, you probably need to be 21!. But that aside, avoid the bartending schools, they cost way too much and don't help you get a job!.

I would do a couple of things!.

One is to get a good cocktail drink book and learn most of the popular and classic drinks!. Learn Long Island Ice Tea, a Slow, Comfortable, Screw up against a Wall, a Martini, a Manhattan, a Kamikaze, a Mai Tai and whatever else you think is popular!. These drinks will give you the basis for what many other cocktails are based on and learning new ones from these will be much easier!.

Second, get yourself a jigger!.!.!.a measure of one oz and one and a half oz and a pour for the top of a bottle and practice with water in an empty bottle getting these two measures correct until you can do it automatically!. These are to two most common pours in bartending and if you can hit these accurately every time without measuring (I always counted to a rhythm in my head) you will do just fine!

Then check your local Craigslist, paper and want adds for jobs! Good Luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are on line classes but get train in a class room so you can be familiar with the bar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
