Question: Does anyone know of a good, inexpensive wine!?
my assignment for today is to get a good wine for dinner, which I am cooking!.!.!.that goes with meat and is red, I guess, I don't have much money but want it to be good because if it isn't !.!.!.! Is there such a thing as a pretty good red wine for ten or under!?!.!.!.!.thanks, I know NOTHING about wine!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Beringer is a very good wine for about $6 to $7 a bottle!. And don't forget Mogan David!.
But if your new to wines, pick a wine that is sweet and fruity!. For a red wine I would suggest a lambrusco or a reisling!. Wines that are commonly served with food are a chardinay, and a chabli!. (pardon my spelling!.) These are both white wines and are not really all that flavorful, but they are nice!.

There's nothing worse that opening a bottle of wine that you absolutely hate the flavor of!. Please avoid wines such as a Merlot, or a Shiraz!. (both horrible in my opinion!.) But I must admit, I do like a white merlot as well as a white zinfandel!.

Good luck! Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just go to the nearest wine store in your area and ask the clerk to help you!. There are good wines out there for under $10, but if you can go up to $15 you will find a much better selection!. Really, what it comes down to though is, if you like it it's a good wine no matter what the cost!. Just go ask a clerk in a wine shop and they should be able to help you!. If not, don't ever go back to that store!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wines in the $5-10 range are known as "fighting varietals" because they are all so well made and basically equal in quality that what they are really "fighting" for is shelf space at the store!.

Go with any red (Merlot, Cabernet, Zinfandel, Syrah) from a major California producer (Gallo, Beringer, Mondavi, Clos du Bois, Kendall Jackson) in the $7-10 range and you can't go wrong!.

Personally, I think Gallo of Sonoma makes an $11 wine that is worth $20!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If there's a Trader Joe's near you, I'd recommend going there!. They have a number of cheap wines (including Two Buck Chuck, aka Charles Shaw), and I've never had a bad bottle of wine from there!. For a regular grocery store, I'd try Yellow Tail - there's another brand that I can't remember the name of at the moment that has penguins on the label and was quite good!. If you're not sure what to bring, I'd grab a cabernet sauvignon or a mixed wine (part merlot, part cab sauv or something similar)!. You should be able to get a pretty decent bottle for about $8-9!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hiya, if its red wine you are after, i would definitely say an australian shiraz, tesco have an excellent range (i dont work for them or anything!!), eg calloway crossing is lovely, oxford landing!. they are all normally meant to be about 7 quid a bottle, but they always seem to have one of them on offer for about 4 or 5 quid!.
so you can easily get a very nice one for a tenner!
australian shiraz all the way!! enjoy

This is a tough question because it mostly relies on your location!. Some parts of the country may not carry some wines!. I would suggest you see if you can find Trentadue, Old Patch Red!. If nothing else, go to the liquor store and ask someone, I'm sure they'd be able to help you!.

Whatever you do, don't buy Charles Shaw!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I work at a liquor store and Barefoot is a cheap label ($7 at my store) and pretty decent!. If you're willing to spend $10 there are a lot of good wines at that price!. Smoking Loon and Yellow Tail (Australian) are worth checking out!.

If you want something sweeter go with a Merlot or a Shiraz!. If you want something more full body, pick a Cabernet or a Pinot Noir!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are near a Trader Joes, pick up a variety of Charles Shaw wines!. They are like only 2$ a bottle, and they are good also!. I always have some on hand for cooking or drinking!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love Estanica cabernet - at Total Wine it is only $10!.97
Another great one is Sterling Cabernet or Merlot!. It is about $11!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sutter Home White Merlot!. It's a blush, but should work with steak!. We serve it with steak and both white and red wine drinkers enjoy it!. It's about $5 a bottle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i think what you are asking for is a oxymoron!.
