at most upper class establishments dry martinis are made by stirring because this causes less ice to break into the drink and later melt "watering down" the flavor of the gin/vodka!.Shaking also makes the drink frothy and cloudy that some don't like!. Stirring keeps the drink crystal clear!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
It refers to how you serve a martini!.
Some people put the mix in a shaker, it combines the elements completely and keeps a unified flavors (and it looks cool to do)
The old school way is to stir it in a pitcher!. This way, some say the gin doesn't get bruised, or the flavor of the gin isn't mulled or softened!. also, more distinction between flavors!.
There is a difference, but I couldn't tell you which one I prefer!. It's pretty subtle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the way it mixes, if you shake it the it is a mixed a little more thoroughly than if you stir it, but that's for straight alcohol drinks not like a soda mixture, the carbonation will kinda not like thatWww@FoodAQ@Com
