Presents to say thank you for a whisky lover?!
my mum and dad have helped us restore a house and i wanted to say thanks! im getting mum a huge bouquet!.!.not original but she loves flowers!. my dad loves whisky but i wanted to get him something special!. i know nothing about whisky and so was wondering if anyone had any ideas or websites i can buy whisky gifts from!. like a really really nice bottle, something better than the stuff you can get at tesco!. he has loads of crystal glasses so dont want gift sets like that!.!.any ideas anyone!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

As a Scotch lover I agree that glassware would be redundant, but there's nothing I like better than a whisky I haven't tried, especially if it's an older version of something I have tried!. I don't care if I have ten bottles on hand, I can always find shelf space!. Single Malts are generally considered better than blends, but only because there are sooooo many crappy blends out there!.
So!. If you know he likes Glenfiddich 12, buy him Glenfiddich 15 or 18 or 21, depending on how much you want to spend!. The price will usually start to approach $100 at the 18 or 21 year old mark!.
If you want recommendations, my favorites are Springbank, Glenfarclas, Bruichladdich, Glenmorangie, Balvenie and Ardbeg!. I would avoid buying any Scotch that says "Islay" on it unless you're certain he likes Scotch with peat flavors!. It's a bit of a love/hate flavor, and Ardbeg has the most peat!. The safest regions are Speyside and Highland!.
So: If you're looking in the 40-50 dollar range: Balvenie 10 or 12, Glenmorangie Lasanta, Yamazaki 12 (it's Japanese, but considered to be an excellent whisky), Dalwhinnie 15, Aberlour 10 or 12, Glenlivet 10, 12 or 15 (the French Oak versions are better than just the standard versions) and!.!.!.!. uh, Bruichladdich!. It's an Islay (which I warned you about earlier) but it doesn't have the peat flavor!.

Try to find out which style of whisky he prefers - if it were me you could not beat a bottle of Springbank - many vintages available,according to how much you want to spend!. (from about ￡30 to ￡3000 for the directors reserve !) Distilled and matured in Campbelltown and sold in Eaglesoms in Campbelltown (and other places) which is worth a visit itself (tiny tasting glasses !)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Search the internet for his favorite brand of whiskey!. Most (such as Jack Daniels) have websites with branded merchandise and lots of gift items!. I've seen decanters that are mounted and swivel forward to pour, nice gift sets in walnut boxes that can reused for keeping accessories or mementos!. Bushmills Black Label,it's an Irish malt whisky and does not take the throat off you when you drink it neat!.
They also do a 10 year old malt also lovely!.
It does depend on his taste, Bushmills has a round peaty flavour!.

It all depends on how much your willing to spend and what kind of whiskey your father likes (single malt, blends etc)!.
Personally my favourites are Laphroaig it comes in at around 30-40 pounds, Talisker 18 year old at around 60 pounds, Oban 14 year old at around 40 pounds!.
