This is a hotly debated topic!. Because traditionaly corks are used for wine, screw tops make wine seem 'cheap' to a lot of consumers!. However, the truth is screw tops actually keep more air out of the wine, which leads to better storing once the bottle itself has been opened (plus it keep funky things out between the time it is bottled and the time that you buy it!.) But as far as aging goes corks allow for the perfect amount of breathing!. Because screw tops are a relatively new device, there is no telling how it will affect the aging process!. I for one am all for the screw top!. Besides, havne't you ever brought wine out somewhere and then realized that you forgot a corkscrew!? Problem solved!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like the custom of uncorking the bottle, but I honestly have to say that I have tried many wines that have screw caps and have been pleasantly surprised in the quality and taste of the wine!. I am a bit of a wine snob so you won't catch me drinking swill, but you will find me buying wines with screw tops if they are high quality!. I will always grab the corked bottles first, but if I taste something new that is screw cap, I will buy it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The screw cap or stelvin cap protects the wine better than a cork can and more companies are gearing more towards it all the time!. Yes it started with cheap wine and looks strange on a wine bottle but what is more important, taste or looksWww@FoodAQ@Com

Unless you are putting it in the cellar to age a screwtop is better!. There is pretty much no way for a metal and plastic cap to go bad and taint the whole bottle like a cork can!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cork, because it keeps more air out of the bottle then a screw top!. Thus, maintaining the bouquet of the wine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put a cork in it!
