Does storing a bottle of scotch effect it?!

Question: Does storing a bottle of scotch effect it!?
If I have a 12 yr bottle of scotch and it sits in my bar for 5yrs!. Does the beverage gain anything from the 5 yrs!? Would the bottle now be 17yr!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The only way that it'll be affected is if you opened it and let air in, closed it, and then let it sit for 5 years!. Then it would probably oxidize a little resulting in it tasting harsh and crappy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. "Aging" in distilling terms refers to time stored in aging casks or barrels, your scotch does not improve w/ age in the bottle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some drinks are aged, but scotch should be used right away!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
