What brand of whiskey should I buy for my friend's birthday?!

Question: What brand of whiskey should I buy for my friend's birthday!?
I'm on a college student's budget and I think I'm gonna buy a bottle of whiskey for my friend's birthday!. She's a girl and she likes to drink socially, sometimes a little too much!. I think she enjoys whiskey more than other types of liquor; I think she likes Jack Daniel's!.

So what is a good type of Whiskey that won't burn a hole in my wallet but that she'd really enjoy!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
For about $20 you could buy her a bottle of Maker's Mark Bourbon, It is a very good Bourbon distilled in Kentucky (if she likes Jack she should like this also) It is a smooth bourbon and mixes well with coke and taste great on the rocks or straight up!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Good point Nathan - you're making me edit and provide actual info !.!. I am just beyond tired of HS kids asking the same moron-ic questions night after night!. It's getting as old as Bob Hope!.

About the question =
EW is a good choice if she does like JD as it's a bit stronger (86 proof or 43% alc!. as opposed to 80 proof or 40%), otherwise Canadian Mist is descent!.

I personally prefer Wild Turkey (101) or Crown Royal, about 20 bucks for the standard 750ml size

Maker's Mark is smoother, but if as you say she sometimes drinks a little too much, the extra alcohol in that might not go over too well !.!. but as a social drink it's very good

If you want to splurge, Buchanan's is a really good Scotch whisky!.

If unable to get more info on her likes / dislikes, you may want to get a gift certificate!. This way she can choose, hopefully inviting you to come along and be her guest at the next party!. Here in TX, after alcohol has been paid it can't be exchanged!. Even if you're still in the store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Jack is a good whiskey, but if you want a cordial,!.!.try Bailey's!. They came out with a carmel that my husband just loves on the rocks!. If you do buy Jack, just buy a smaller bottle that you can afford!. Jack isn't the most expensive, but isn't the cheapest either!. Maybe a nice bottle of wine, but I like "sippen juice"!. Kahluah and Bailey's are nice after dinner drinks that are sweet!. Tequilla Rose is also fun!. I get that for my g/f once a year!. Tastes like pink milk!. Goes down way too easy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi

JOHNNIE WALKER is a brand of Scotch whisky produced in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland!. It is the most widely distributed brand of Scotch whisky in the world, sold in almost every country and with yearly sales of over 120 million bottles!.

Buy johnnie walker black(its not expensive and its the best brand except blue which cost to much)

Cheers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm with Jen

JAMESON JAMESON JAMESON!.

Only whiskey to drink is Irish whiskey IMO!.

Jen: wow! i thought i was the only one who mixed Car Bombs!

Nice! Too bad they curdle real quick!.

Habsfan: Just because she's underaged, which he never even mentioned, doesn't mean he is!.

Fake ID's aren't worth the crap these days, considering since 9/11 possession of one is a felony!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is a Bourbon called Evan Williams, It is similar in taste to JD, but a much better price, You can get a handle at Bev Mo for about $18!.

http://www!.bevmo!.com/productlist!.asp!?N=1!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Jack is a Tennessee Style Whiskey, which is a close cousin to Bourbon!. I'd stick to that range!.

So, best bourbons for the money:
Makers Mark
Jim Beam Black Label
Bulleit
Woodford Reserve

Jameson! It's Irish Whiskey, and goes great with a pineapple juice back! also, if she wants to be girlie on her bday you can mix it with Guinness and Baileys to create an Irish Car Bomb!. Yum!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Crown Royal is the way to go if you want whiskey!.
Although I am partial to Southern Comfort!. It's got a sweeter taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are willing to splurge a little, Pendelton is the best!Www@FoodAQ@Com
