Could someone explain.....???!
Okay, I know someone will probably laugh hysterically at this question, but here goes!. Last night I was watching an episode of "George Lopez" on Nick at Nite, and he was taking a shot of tequila, and then he ate the worm!. I am not a drinker,(obviously) but what purpose does the worm serve in the bottle or at the bottom of the glass!? also what is the point of eating it at the end of the shot!? Could someone plz let me know!?! Thank you very much!. (no smart a** answers plz!. I really don't have the slightest idea!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

The worm used to be an advertising ploy to indicate that it was "real" tequila from the agave cactus in which the worm may live!.
It does absorb some alcohol but not enough to have much of an effect on the person who eats it!.
Usually the worm is found in the cheaper brands now and sometimes is plastic!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The worm was a joke: because the tequila is a real strong and alcoholic beverage!. When he was done drinking, he would (he probably was already) get drunk, and eat the worm!. I liked that episode!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
if it has a worm in it, its actually mescal, not tequila!. the worm is suppose to soak up the alcohol, in turn making you more drunk, plus its a show of courage!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
it's not tequila actually if that occurred!.!.!.!.
Fyi - there is no worm in tequila sometimes there is a worm in mezcal, another distilled beverage made in mexicoWww@FoodAQ@Com

The worm actually soaks up all the alcohol, so if you eat it, you just consume more alcohol and get even more drunk!. Hope that helps!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Don't feel stupid, I havent the slightest clue either why people do that!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
