Jack Daniels vs Makers Mark...?!

Question: Jack Daniels vs Makers Mark!.!.!.!?
Which would you choose!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Pretty tough choice, but I think I go with Maker's!. Though they don't use rye in their mash (which I LOVE), they're pretty uncompromising on quality and tradition, and it shows in their whisky!.

I wouldn't say no to J!.D!., though!.

Confidential to KMoG: All modern bourbons are sour-mash!. The difference between bourbon and tennessee whisky is that bourbon uses no active filtration (most bottlings are chill filtered to settle particulates), whereas Tennessee whisky uses extensive charcoal filtration that makes it taste smoky as hell!. Kentucky Spirit is single barrel, not barrel proof (you're thinking of Rare Breed), and there's no way in hell it's twenty years old!. WT has never bottled anything older than 15 years (Tribute/American Spirit), and those retail for 2-3 times what KS goes for!. I'd guess, based on the flavor and depth, that it's about 5-6 years old!. HTH, and I'm glad to find I'm not the only one carrying a torch for WT around here!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Comparing Markers Mark and Jack Daniels isn't fair!. As both are excellent whiskeys however Makers Mark is bourbon and Jack Daniels is sour mash!. Not quite the same thing!. If I wanted sour mash it would have to be Jack Daniels but if I wanted bourbon it would be Kentucky Spirit!. It's made by the fine folks at Wild Turkey, barrel proofed, aged about 20 years!. For on the rocks Buffalo Trace and Forty Creek have them both beat!.

In a pinch I would take the overrated Jack!.

I have them all in my cabinet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
