You'll need at least one each of the following:
Gin (Gordon's is good and cheap, Damrak is excellent)
Plain vodka (Nemiroff is the best of the cheap stuff, Pravda is tops overall)
Light rum (Bacardi Silver)
Dark or Spiced rum (El Dorado, Capt!. Morgan)
Bourbon (Wild Turkey is my preference)
Tequila (not much of a Tequila drinker, so I can't recommend anything)
Dry Vermouth
Triple Sec
Coke, Sprite, 7up, soda water, tonic water
Cranberry juice, orange juice (keep refrigerated), Lemon Juice
At least three kinds of glasses: lowball (short), highball (tall), and martini
Ice, salt, limes, mint sprigs, etc!. Maybe sour mix and simple syrup if you don't want to make it yourself!.

Once you're set up, you can expand by adding brandy, flavored liquors and liqueurs like cura?ao, lemon vodka, etc, scotch (not JW Red Label, it's overpriced), more fruit juices, rye whiskey, Canadian whisky, creme de menthe, absinthe, schnapps, etc etc etc!.

But the list above will be everything you'll need for most of the usual cocktails!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i would go with a few types of all the basic alcohol for standard martinis
maby a mid and an upper-end version of each, so you can compair and find what you like!.
Vodka
Gin
Vermouth
garnishes: a variety of pickled olives and onions are best

as for the rest, if you want to have flavored 'tinis you can get the standard ones in most liqiour stores, apple, lime, blue raspberry, ect!.!.!. but another option with more variety is to look online, the same syrups are also used for snow-cones and more varied in flavors!.

My local walmart has 'tini syrups for $5 for 20oz, in lime, green apple, strawberry, and blue raspberry!.

go into the section with small appliances, and find their snowcone maker, they have a dozen flavors: blueberry, green apple, watermelon, cotten candy, blue raspberry, and many more, for about $2 for 20ozWww@FoodAQ@Com

Tanqueray gin and a nice dry vermouth!. Make sure to stir the martini, shaking it bruises the gin!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Go to your favorite liquor store and ask what they suggest to 'open' your own bar! Have a great time!.!.!.!.we love martinis!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
