Last night I was drinking with some friends...?!

Question: Last night I was drinking with some friends!.!.!.!?
we have drank together before, never very much!. But last night I had a full shot of rum and part of a mojito!. I got drunk off of this, and I'm wondering if this is normal!. My friend drank waaay more than I did and we were about the same "drunkness"!. I'm 5'3'', 17, 108 pounds!. She's quite a bit bigger than I am, but it still seems odd that I got drunk from the small amount of alcohol I consumed!. Is this normal!? Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
How much you can handle depends on a LOT of factors!.

First, your size does play a large role!. Someone who is 6'6" and 300 pounds will probably ALWAYS be able to out-drink you!.

That's not the whole story though!. Everyone is genetically predisposed to be able to handle alcohol better or worse than others!. Your body can be particularly good or bad at detoxing the alcohol from your system!. Men generally can handle alcohol in larger quantities than women!. Just the way we're built!.

also, different types of alcohol affect people differently!. I know many people that absolutely cannot handle tequila well!. They get drunk faster and experience worse after-affects!. Tequila doesn't bother me any more than anything else, though, meaning my body handles it better than theirs do!.

Then, how much water you consume with the alcohol affects how drunk you get!. Even more importantly, what you've eaten affects how much alcohol your body absorbs!. Eating lots of high-carb food before drinking will limit alcohol's effects!. Pasta, breads, cereals being in your stomach will slow the rate at which everything, including the alcohol is absorbed, meaning you won't be hit with the alcohol all at once!. If you drink on an empty stomach, the lonely liquid will processed much more quickly and all the alcohol will go straight into your system in one large dose altogether!.

Beyond that, your overall health also affects how well your system deals with alcohol!. If you're tired and/or sickly, your body won't do as good a job of filtering it out and you will be hit harder with the effects!.

So yes, it's normal for some people to get drunk much faster than others!. When I'm well-rested, healthy, and drinking with dinner, I can handle two drinks and feel little or no effects!. Somewhere around the end of the third is my tipping point under normal conditions!. If I'm tired or hungry when I drink or if I drink too fast, I'm starting to put my sails to the wind partway through the second beer/mixed drink!. My husband and most of my large male friends take five or six to match the drunkness of me on my third!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

your size definitely influences how much alcohol you can tolerate, as do a lot of other factors, like whether or not you're tired, whether you've eaten anything, and whether you're drinking water!. you should be careful in future because if you do try to keep up with your friends who have a higher tolerance, you can make yourself very, very ill!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If this is one of your first time's drinking its normal to get drunk easily!. The more you drink the higher your tolerance builds up!. Having a high tolerance is not a good thing though, its worse on your liver!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are small!.!.!.
and as you said!.!.!. you don't drink much!.
It's not unheard of for you to be drunk from hardly anything!.!.!.!.

I believe the term is "light weight"
lol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That depends on how fast your drank it and how your immune system re acts to acholol!. I weight 148 pounds and i can drink 5 bottles of 40 ounces of beer and be aliitle buzzed!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

yeah your a light weight
eating lots and drinking milk before you drink could help you increase your tolorance but being a light weight is always cheaper ;)

We all handle alcohol and drugs differently!. Despite what so called experts may say!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You need to practice and build up a tolerence!
Of course wait till you are of age!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it's perfectly normal to be a lightweight lol!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
