Where I am, the legal drinking age is 18!.
However, by the time they are 11 or 12, everyone has had the odd sip of Mum's wine when out, the odd mouthful of Dad's beer at a barbeque!.!.!. Some, by that stage are completely off the rails, others don't start drinking on a regular (usually weekend, or so) basis!.
I started going and buying my own alcohol at sixteen (the staff behind the counter didn't either care, or want confrontation, and besides, I could pass for several years older), and going out to people's parties!. I can understand people's viewpoints - it's illegal, it can be dangerous - but it's also a lifestyle, a kind of recreation, a rite of passage (of being young, and teenage and "rebellious") and it would be extremely hard to change!. And a lot of people, if they didn't change, would not be worse off than if they did!.
As for that perennial argument - "why can't kids Just Be Kids and not (try to) grow up so fast these days!?" - that's exactly what they're doing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

these days its pretty much impossible to avoid drinking alcohol under the age of 21!. about everybody at my high school goes and gets pissed every weekend and they have never got in trouble with the police!. i am not 21 yet and i have drank a fair bit but never been drunk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

and be sure not to get in a car as the driver or the passenger -
My 18 year old got a DUI - at the time - he thought it was no big deal!.!.!.
He had money saved for High School graduation - went to pay his attorney - $2000
He is still paying court costs - $1500
Ask him - definitely not worth it!.

The drinking age in the UK is 18 and yes I have!. I started when I was just about to turn 16!. Drinking in a safe environment is fine I think!. It makes you more aware and you don't go out of control [usually] when you finally hit the legal age!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Duh! I think everybody has!. Especially my dad is a alcoholic he let me drink when i was 6 and with alcohol around the house its easy for me to get a drink without him too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

duh!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. I first drank a glass of champagne with my family at New Years when I was like 6!. Suprisingly I have only been drunk about 3 times, all have been since I turned 21!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
